The favourite of the queen-mother the favourite of the king (1617) succeeds: the interests of France outside remain in suffering; inside the queen-mother, with the support of large, excites new disorders, and the re-establishment of Catholicism in Béarn causes a revolt of the calvinists; of Luynes goes against them, fails the head office of Montauban, and dies in the retirement (1621).
After him the queen-mother returns to the council, and anarchy continues during three years: the French Protestants are not reduced, and the Protestants of Germany, given up by France, are at the thank you of Austria.
